Síminn has established a backup connection for GPRS data transport to and from Iceland. The backup path is utilised for both incoming and outgoing GPRS traffic.

An important step has been taken on the distribution of television material in Iceland, under an agreement entered into by Iceland Telecom and 365 midlar. The agreement stipulates that both parties will distribute the Icelandic television stations of Digital Íslands and Skjár Einn. The agreement provides the customers of both companies access to all Icelandic television stations.
