Long range mobile phone network

The NMT mobile phone network is intended for use on the highways, in the highlands and offshore. It is possible to use the NMT network almost anywhere in the country.

The NMT mobile phones have also proven themselves as necessary security devices when travelling off the beaten track.

NMT stands for "Nordic automatic Mobile Telephone system". The NMT mobile phone network in Iceland is a so-called NMT-450 network; that is, its frequency is around 450 MHz.
